Maisie has worked as a journalist since 1980. She has provided freelance and assignment work with The Daily Olympian, The Seattle Times, The Stanwood/Camano Journal, The Shelton/Mason County Journal, The Vashon Maury Island Beachcomber and Indian Country Today.

Public relations and communications
As communication officer at South Puget Intertribal Planning Agency, Maisie wrote press releases, public service announcements, brochures, annual reports, grants, and the quarterly intertribal newspaper.
Health writer
Since 2001, contracted responsibilities for National Indian Women’s Health Resource Center (NIWHRC) have included several monographs on state-to-tribal health program relations for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the Passing on Tradition project, various health brochures for American Indians, and three issues of the Native Women’s Wellness magazine.

Other editorial contracted work includes presentations and curricula for the Affiliated Tribes of Northwest Indians Economic Development Corp., ONABEN and others.
